Rebecca S'manga Frank
Rebecca is a Black American, Swazi, Jewish writer, actor, director, and educator. She writes poetry, essays, and plays. Much of her work has been featured in spaces for Jewish arts and culture including Lilith Magazine, JCC Manhattan, Hillel International, LAB/Shul, Reboot, LABA Live at the 14th Street Y, and more. She is a New Jewish Culture fellow, a LABA New York fellow 2021, and a 2022 fellow of The Workshop at the Jewish Theological Seminary.
Rebecca is currently acting in the world premiere of “At the Wedding” at Lincoln Center’s LCT3. Other acting credits include “Indecent” (Oregon Shakespeare Festival), “Is Edward Snowden Single?” (New Ohio Theater), Sundance Theatre Lab in Morocco, (we, the Invisibles) Humana New Play Festival at Actors Theatre of Louisville, Coriolanus (Red Bull Theatre), The Broken Record (New York Fringe Festival) and worked at many other regional and off-broadway theaters. She has appeared on FOX’s Prodigal Son, Lisey’s Story (Apple TV), and Elementary (NBC).
Rebecca is a member of Society Theatre, an ensemble-based theatre company in New York. She received her BA from Mills College in creative writing and her MFA from NYU Tisch Grad Acting.
